Magazine and Online Hand Drawn Plan

Fashion research

These are my flat plans which I created on Illustrator, they will be used when creating my final website design.

These are my Magazine and Website hand drawn designs, after I drew these I created them on Illustrator and added headings for what they are for example "Masthead" "Cover Line"

Treatment – Fashion Website and Magazine

My website and magazine will be for the male market, I feel I can write significant amounts and that is quite a popular market. I think I will use high street style because it’s something everyone can afford and doesn’t target any particular market. This will increase the amount of traffic on my website and the range of readers my magazine will get. However at the same time I will add high-end designer brands such as Lacoste etc., this is to appeal to another market and give another option for people who are looking for high-end brand names. Taking in to account other magazines/websites they have either white or grey backgrounds to emphasise the images and text on the page. I think that I will go for a grey gradient because it provides a clean fresh look, and it continues with the themes that nearly all men’s fashion magazines are going for. Other websites like GQ and MFM have a variety of models, this is too involve both male and female markets. My magazine will also include both male and female because you can appeal to both genders and have a variety of clothing which would compliment each other, e.g. Complimenting outfits etc. However it will be mainly male because the clothes will be styled on them.

The cover line will be very bold and use contrasting colours to the white or grey background, this will emphasise the text on the page and let the reader know the difference. For example if the page is black then I will use white text, these types of colours contrast each other and create a clean, fresh look. This makes it look professional and stylish (Which is the style I am going for considering it’s a fashion website)

A lot of fashion magazines such as “Vogue” and “Esquire” have a very particular style of masthead, they use different font in the copy, so that the main title stands out from its competitors. My masthead will be very similar to “Esquire” magazine, both online and print. I want to continue a theme throughout both platforms so that the readers can recognise my fashion site/magazine.

I will use many of the same links as other sites use, except the high-end brand items like “Burberry” and “Dolce and Gabbana” these types of brands are not the for my readers. The types of websites I will have links to are high street, for example Topman, Burton. These types of shops are popular for online shopping and by linking to online shops my website could earn money from advertising and promotion.

DCP's and their definitions

Last week we began our Blogs and investigated the term "meme." We found out that it was a concept (image or video) that spreads via the Internet.

List of DCP's and their definition

http:Hypertext Transfer (or Transport) Protocol. "http://www.blogger.com"

VoIP: Voice over Internet protocol, a technology for making telephone calls over
the Internet.

VoIP: Voice over internet protocol

VoIP is a technology for making telephone calls over the internet, it includes programs such as Skype. Commercial use is probally one of the largest because it provides worldwide communication, for example someone can login to their computer in England and call someone who is living in Australia. The only cost would be the broadband (However Skype does charge for calls to landline or mobiles, so their would be a fee in this instance) It is free to call someone who is using Skype. (Skype to Skype)

It is also used in the corporate industry for example companies have switched to VoIP to lower their phone costs, this works because it runs on the internet and nowadays companies are very efficient regarding bandwidth. Company executives can use this to communicate with clients or colleagues around the world, this is called voice/video conferencing. It can be very useful especially when certain people may not be able to attend the conference/meeting.

Not only does this type of communication save money but it also generates money, Skype use it to make money. They sell credits which are used by the public and then use them to make video/voice calls. However some companies don't charge for their services for example Apple have a free application on iphone4's,  ipad2's and macs called Facetime. This comes free with the product you buy and works only between facetime, therefor you cant cal landlines or mobiles.

Medal of Honour Cat

  What is a meme?
The term Internet meme is used to describe a concept that spreads via the Internet, it is propagated through the World Wide Web and may take the form of a hyperlink, video or picture.

Who creates them and how are they created?
Any one can create a meme by finding a picture, video or hyperlink and adding a humorous comment. It can be any subject but is mainly something that entertains the creator.

How are memes published and who publishes them?
Memes are published on the internet by anyone, either on Social Networking, Blogs or other websites. It is usually the original creator who publishes them and then it is virally transmitted through the internet.

   My Favorite Meme

   Why?
I only saw this meme because someone else found it, but instantly it became funny to me. The simplicity of the idea appealed to me because making something too complicated bores me. Just by looking at the amount of views the videos has you can determine how popular it is, 10,834,838. Ten million views on a single video is a lot and considering it has been created by a normal everyday person thats pretty impressive. You would expect to see something like this being created by professional special effect artists but instead its been shot on a an everyday camera.

What is the Legacy of your meme?
When you type "Medal of Honor Cat" in to YouTube the main result is the original video, however several other spoofs have been created by users, for example remixes are quite popular. Moreover there are several videos reviewing the production and filming so this proves the videos is popular as others are attempting to copy it.

I originally found out about it through people in my class, I watched their screen and instantly liked it.
